Hooter

Hooter is a 2023, red roan, AQHA gelding who stands at just over 14 hands. He was raised in northern Idaho and made his way to Utah last summer, where he immediately began his training.
Hooter does well with arena and versatility riding. He handles himself well in rocky and uneven terrain. He’s not afraid of cattle and works very well in sorting and feedlot pens. He handles a rope and has tracked the sled in the arena without issue.
He has a quiet demeanor, and although he has a very fast walk, he prefers slower speeds. His Hancock breeding will give him a sizable frame when he is finished growing. Three of his full siblings are over 15 hands, but don’t reach their full size until later in their 4th year.
Hooter is happy in a barn stall or in a pasture with other horses. He bathes, loads, and ties well. He has not wanted to buck, rear, or bolt but still has a youthful and watchy eye. Despite his young age, he’s easy to handle and his willing attitude makes him easy to train. If he gets worried, he’s easy to control. He can be ridden two-handed but has been ridden lately with a bridle bit and one-handed. He can open and close a gate like a champ!
Hooter would do well as a versatility ranch horse, in a branding pen, in a feedlot setting, or as a step-up horse for an experienced youth rider. He travels out well on a trail and he would make a great beer drinking buddy.
